AGM and Dinner 20th February - Saddle and Sirloin - Chesterfield House Rood Lane EC3 (The "Posh" part of the Mecca Group) 67 members and Guests attended the Dinner. £35 per person. The Guest speaker was Phillip Willoughby JP, CC - the previous year's Chief of the Court of Common Council

 

Visit to Museum of London  - 30th April
A private visit for 32 members and their guests, followed by a Buffet Supper with wine in the Terrace Room.

Some of the highlights included the recently created "London Now" Gallery (London over the previous 50 years - from the end of the 2nd World War) and the "Catwalk" described as a "fast track view of the history of the City of London", including interactive displays and 50 fascinating facts along the way.

Civic Lunch - The Crypts, Guildhall, Thursday 12th June
137 Members and guests took part in this very important annual event where they were joined by The Lord Mayor (Sir Roger Court) and the Sherriff Mr Keith Knowles.

College of Arms 8th September
A visit led for the Ward Club by Portcullis Pursuivant, William Hunt, TD who explained the history and role of the College in addition to showing some fine examples of the work carried out at the College. Over 40 (44) people attended (Normal Max being 40). The Hon Sec received various phone calls after the event (unusual) showing how much this event was enjoyed by all. Supper was provided by the "Housekeeper" and his wife which was really enjoyed by all who attended.  

Red Cross Fair - Wheel of Fortune 27th - 29th October

As usual the Ward Club supported the fair, with the purchase of Raffle Tickets and provision of prizes for this very popular stall. 

On Lord Mayor's Day Saturday 8th November,  The Ward Club presented Alderman David Howard MA with a very colourful scroll congratulkating him on his appointment, noting that his father and grandfather had also been made Sheriff.
The Presentation was made by The President, Deputy Archibald, Junior Warden and the Hon Secretary. 

A lunchtime visit to Mansion House - 14th October
A short guided tour given by the Lord Mayor's HallKeeper, preceded by a glass of wine.... at The Mithras Wine Bar, Bucklersbury House. Walbrook.

Carol Service - St Peter upon Cornhill - Tuesday 2nd December
The annual service where the singing was led by The City Singers was followed by a glass of Mulled Wine and supper at the City University Club £18.50. (54 Members and Guests)
